How The Camel Got His Hump Exercise 3
Solution 1
The
task that was assigned to the dog was to fetch and carry things for man. The ox
had a yoke on his neck and he had to do the ploughing for man. Both the dog and
the ox were trying to make the lazy camel work for man in the desert like the
rest of the animals.
Solution 2
The
camel lived in the middle of the desert because it was lazy and did not want to
work. All he did was eat sticks, thorns and prickles and when anybody spoke to
him he said “Humph”.
Solution 3
At
the end of the day the man called the dog, horse and ox and told them that he
was sorry that they had to work so hard but since the “Humph-thing in the
Desert”-the camel could not work he was going to leave him alone and the three
of them would now have to work double to make up for it. Hearing this the dog,
horse and the ox were very angry.
Solution 4
The
horse told the Djinn that there was a thing in the middle of his desert with a
long neck and long legs, that hadn’t done a stroke of work since Monday morning
and it wouldn’t even trot. From this description given by the horse the Djinn
knew that the horse was complaining about the camel.
Chapter 1 - How The Camel Got His Hump
Exercise 5
Solution 1
The
camel looking at his own reflection in the pool, suggests that it was a proud
animal and since he did no work and was lazy kept admiring the reflection of
his back that he was so proud of in the pool.
Solution 2
The
camel kept saying “Humph” repeatedly inspite of the Djinn warning him. However
no sooner had he said it than the back that he was so proud of started puffing
up and puffing up and turned into a great big hump. The Djinn explained to him
that the huge hump was his very own ‘humph’ that he had brought upon himself by
not working.
Solution 3
According
to the Djinn, since the camel had missed those three days of work, he would now
be able to work for three days without eating because he could live on his
humph.
Solution 4
According
to the writer the camel was and still is a lazy animal. After getting the
humph and being told by the Djinn to move out of the desert and help the
three with work he was not able to catch up with the three days work that he
had missed at the beginning of the world. Even today the camel has still not
learnt to behave meaning to work hard like the other animals and so still has
the hump.
